What is an XML Sitemap?
Why You Need One
An XML sitemap is a file that lists all the important pages on your website. It helps search engines like Google discover and index your content faster. Without one, some pages may never appear in search results — especially on larger sites.
How to Submit to Google
1. Upload sitemap.xml to your website root (e.g., yoursite.com/sitemap.xml)
2. Go to Google Search Console → Sitemaps
3. Enter the URL of your sitemap and click Submit
Google will then crawl and index your pages.
Priority and Change Frequency
Priority (0.0–1.0) hints to search engines which pages are most important. Your homepage should be 1.0, main sections 0.8, and individual posts/pages 0.5–0.6. Change frequency tells crawlers how often the page content changes.
Limitations of This Tool
This free tool crawls up to 50 pages via HTML link discovery. It won't find pages that are only linked from JavaScript or require authentication. For large sites (100+ pages), consider generating your sitemap programmatically using your CMS or a sitemap plugin.
